GOD BLESSINGS
What is a God Blessing? A God Blessing is just like Atia’s Goddess Favor. It’s a gift from one of the Gods and can come in many different shapes and sizes. Basically, they’re around to make life on the island easier for characters.
God blessings are handed between the 1st and 7th of every month, and the number of them being granted is determined by the mods.
What types of God Blessings are there? There are two types of God Blessings on the island:
Basic Blessings: These are smaller gifts such as a pet or smaller items from home. Magical items can be requested through basic blessings, but they will be powerless unless an advanced blessing is asked for. If your character would care to heal a minor disability or illness, a basic Blessing can be used.
Advanced blessings: Advanced Blessings are for those characters who are more than willing to show Eros and the other Gods that they’re willing to put in the extra effort to get what they want. Advanced Blessings are for larger gifts that include the return of certain powers, healing major disabilities and illnesses.
How are they obtained? ICly, a character must leave a small donation or a request at one of the Gods' Temples to obtain the Blessing. Most times (OK all the time) the character asking for the blessing, even if it is for another character, must complete some sort of task that is asked of them. This task can be anything! If the character completes the task asked of them to Eros’ satisfaction then the Blessing will be granted. Sometimes the Gods might be more than pleased by the character's performance and might grant them a little more than they asked. Please note that these tasks are meant to be a trial and might not be something the character is comfortable doing but they are asking a God for a Blessing and they just don’t grant Blessing to anyone.
Sometimes a God might take a particular liking to a certain character and might bestow a gift on the character without their knowledge. They still must pay for it, but more than likely they wouldn't know they were making a payment. Once the payment is made, they would go back to normal. This is something that can be asked for OOCly for characters who aren't likely to ask for anything.
Characters are allowed to ask a blessing for another character (as long as OOC permission from both players is obtained) while being the one performing the offering.
OOCly, players must gather and submit their activity to receive their blessings.
The more threads submitted, the greater the possibility that the Blessing will be granted.
Make sure to be as detailed as possible regarding the blessing asked for. If asking for a canonical power, assume that the mods are canon blind. Do not be afraid to go into detail on what the request is, it will make the mods’ decision easier to make. AND please do not have your characters ask for all their powers back. This could result in an automatic no from the Gods.
Also, remember that your character will have to go through an ‘offering’ in order to be blessed by any of the Gods. Those offerings are meant to be a trial and will be decided upon what makes your character uncomfortable. If there is something you would like to explore with your character, now is the time to mention it.
The more details you give us regarding the type of payment your character could receive, the better chances you have for your blessing to be approved.
What can we ask for? Characters can ask for anything, though there is always the possibility that they will not get it. It is after all up to the Gods whether or not they get what they are asking for.
Here is a rough outline of what can be asked for with threads being turned in for a God Blessing:
Basic Blessing 1-2 threads small weapon ammunition photos from home a small amount of Cherubs (money)
3-4 threads magic item (weapon or item though without its magic) pet small electronic device (ie iPod w/music) large amount of Cherubs (money) gasoline for vehicles restoration of magic for a magical item healing a minor disability or illness
Advanced Blessing 5-16 threads magic item (weapon or item with its magic) house or business larger electronic device (such as a laptop) restoration of a single power The restoration of a couple of powers vehicle healing major disabilities and illnesses
Is there anything characters cannot ask for? There are blessings that will not be accepted:
Anything wished that would bring harm on another character, even with player’s permission. The Gods pretty much see themselves as benevolent and will not willingly bring harm to anyone on the island (other than what harm the curses might bring).
Any blessings that will significantly change a character’s personality in any way, good or bad.
Any sort of time manipulation power/object.
The Gods will not bring characters upon a collared guest request, nor will he send home anyone that asks for it. The Gods are the only ones choosing who comes and goes on Pathema.
